South Asia Civil Society Consultation
The Office of the Regional Representative for Asia-Pacific United Nations High Commissioner of Human Rights organized a consultation involving representatives of various human rights organization from the five South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal). Certain themes (for example: Governance and Democratization, Armed Conflict and Human Rights, War against Terrorism, Globalization and Human Rights) were covered by the speakers followed by detailed discussion. A full day was devoted to the present conflict in Nepal and its implication on the state of human rights. Executive Director of TIB presented a paper on the first day on 'Governance, Democratization and Human Rights'
