Transition in TIB
Dhaka, September 22, 2011:Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of TransparencyInternational Bangladesh (TIB) has been appointed Group Director for InstitutionalDevelopment, of the Berlin-based Transparency International, to be effective fromJanuary 1, 2012.The Board of Trustees of TIB at a meeting held on September 8, 2011, welcomed thisappointment as an opportunity for Dr Iftekhar to apply his expertise and experience tostrengthen the anti-corruption movement at the global level. The Board decided tocommence the process for appointing new Executive Director of TIB as soon as possiblein the due process.
All efforts will be made by the Board to ensure that his successor can work withDr Iftekhar for sometime before he moves to Berlin by the end of December. In addition,as a part of the terms of Dr Iftekhar's new assignment, he will visit Bangladesh at least 5 times in 2012, to work with TIB to facilitate smooth transition and ensure continuityinspite of the change in the leadership.
Dr Iftekhar joined TIB on September 1, 2004. He was earlier Executive Director of theBangladesh Freedom Foundation (May 1999-August 2004). He served for four yearsfrom 1995 as Executive Director of the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo,Sri Lanka, and before that worked with the Bangladesh Institute of International andStrategic Studies for 19 years, as Senior Research Fellow and Research Director.

টিআইবি’র নেতৃত্বে পরিবর্তন
ঢাকা, ২২সেপ্টেম্বর ২০১১: টিআইবি’র নির্বাহী পরিচালক ড. ইফতেখারুজ্জামান বার্লিন ভিত্তিক ট্রান্সপারেন্সি ইন্টারন্যাশনালের প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক উন্নয়ন বিষয়ক-গ্রুপ পরিচালকের দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করতে যাচ্ছেন। জানুয়ারি ২০১২ সাল থেকে তাঁর এই নিয়োগ কার্যকর হবে।
ড. ইফতেখারুজ্জামানের পেশাগত দক্ষতা এবং অভিজ্ঞতায় সম্মৃদ্ধ হয়ে বৈশ্বিক পর্যায়ে দুর্নীতিবিরোধী আন্দোলন আরো শক্তিশালী ও বেগবান হবে মর্মে অভিমত প্রকাশ করে টিআইবি’র বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ গত ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর অনুষ্ঠিত এক সভায় তাঁর ওপর এই নতুন দায়িত্ব অর্পিত হওয়ায় স্বাগত জানায়। বোর্ড অব ট্রাস্টিজ একই সাথে যথাযথ প্রক্রিয়ায় টিআইবি’র নতুন নির্বাহী পরিচালকের দ্রুত নিয়োগের প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করার সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করে। নতুন দায়িত্বভার গ্রহণের জন্য ডিসেম্বরের শেষে বার্লিনে যাওয়ার আগে ড. ইফতেখারুজ্জামান যেন টিআইবি’র নতুন নির্বাহী পরিচালকের সাথে কিছু সময় একত্রে কাজ করতে পারেন সেজন্য ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের পক্ষ থেকে সকল প্রয়াস গ্রহণ করা হবে।
নেতৃত্বের পরিবর্তনের প্রেক্ষিতে টিআইবি’র কার্যক্রমের গতি অব্যাহত রাখতে এবং ধারাবাহিকতা নিশ্চিত করতে ড. ইফতেখারুজ্জামান তাঁর নতুন দায়িত্বের অংশ হিসেবে ২০১২ সালে ৫ বার বাংলাদেশে এসে মোট ৯ সপ্তাহ টিআইবি’র কার্যক্রমের সাথে যুক্ত থাকবেন।
ড. ইফতেখারুজ্জামান ২০০৪ সালের ১ সেপ্টেম্বর টিআইবিতে যোগদান করেন। এর আগে তিনি মে ১৯৯৯ থেকে আগস্ট ২০০৪ পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশ ফ্রিডম ফাউন্ডেশনের নির্বাহী পরিচালক ছিলেন। তিনি ১৯৯৫ সাল থেকে চার বছরের জন্য শ্রীলংকার রাজধানী কলম্বোস্থরিজিওনাল সেন্টার ফর স্ট্রাটেজিক স্টাডিজের নির্বাহী পরিচালকের দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। তার আগে তিনি বাংলাদেশ ইনস্টিটিউট অব ইন্টারন্যাশনাল অ্যান্ড স্ট্রাটেজিক স্টাডিজে প্রথমে সিনিয়র রিসার্চ ফেলো এবং পরবর্তীতে গবেষণা পরিচালক হিসেবে ১৯ বছর কর্মরত ছিলেন।
