Chattogram, 4 October 2023: The Committee for Concerned Citizens (CCC) organised a public hearing in the 250-bed General Hospital in Chattogram, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability of all the concerned in the healthcare facility.
The programme attendees raised concerns over various issues, such as ensuring round-the-clock water supply, a cleaner and more patient-friendly environment, waiting rooms for ICU patients' relatives, doctor shortage, and dengue prevention measures. Most of the beneficiaries, however, expressed satisfaction with the services provided by Chittagong General Hospital's dedicated medical staff.
Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, the hospital's superintendent, presided over the event, emphasising commitment to providing quality healthcare despite various constraints. Among others, the hospital’s senior consultants Dr. A. S. M. Lutful Kabir and residential medical officer Dr. Golam Mustafa Jamal were also present. They acknowledged the challenges and sought timely support from the government to address the infrastructure-related issues.
The hospital authority, in collaboration with CCC-TIB, promised to actively address the patients’ concerns, calling for more cooperation from civil society members and stakeholders to improve service quality.
